The Girl From Arkanya
A Kickstarter-backed capybara adventure brought to life
When Arkanya Games first revealed The Girl From Arkanya, it struck a chord immediately. A 2D Zelda-inspired treasure-hunting RPG set in the Amazon, starring Marisa and her capybara companion Kapi, it carried both nostalgia and novelty. Kickstarter backers proved it, smashing the funding goal in a single day and raising more than four times the target. As the 2025 Steam launch approached, there was a challenge.
With just ten days to go, Arkanya needed visibility, wishlist growth, and a reason for the wider gaming press to care. A game this charming deserved an audience, but the clock was ticking.
The approach
We kept it sharp and fast-moving. Two targeted press releases told Arkanya’s story around what made it stand out: a magical capybara sidekick, handcrafted dungeons, and a Latin American setting rarely seen in the genre.
Rather than scattershot outreach, we focused on outlets and creators who could amplify the game authentically. Every beat was designed with one goal in mind: turn attention into wishlists.
The results
In just ten days:
- 74 coverage hits across indie press and gaming outlets
- 23.9M reach with 232K estimated views
- More than 15,000 new Steam wishlists in the final week before launch
- Secured placement on Steam’s “New & Trending” chart
That surge of wishlists gave Arkanya a stronger commercial launch window than any paid campaign could have delivered.
Takeaway
Arkanya already had the heart: years of goodwill, a successful Kickstarter, and a game full of personality. Bonfire’s role was to take that spark, put it in front of the right audiences under extreme time pressure, and turn it into the kind of momentum that makes Steam pay attention.
The Girl From Arkanya launched on Steam in August 2025 - but for Bonfire, the work doesn’t stop at launch. We continue supporting Arkanya Games post-launch to keep visibility and momentum alive.
